On a fabulous shopping trip with a client, Jesse and I got to experience the beautiful and melancholic scenes of springtime in Paris. After popping into Chanel and Dior on Avenue Montaigne, then Hermes and L’Eclaireur on Saint-Honoré, we visited various legendary museums of this artistic city during our downtime. Here’s a peek into our Parisian adventures!
Our first stop was the Grand Palais where the Chanel show is hosted each season. On this particular day the main hall held the Saut Hermès international horse show after which we saw the Icones Americaines exhibit in another gallery of the Palais. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is under renovation, so they are showing a selection of its most iconic works here in Paris. Some of our favorite pieces are by Alexander Calder, Donald Judd and Andy Warhol. The Icones Americaines exhibit is on display through June 22, so hurry if you want to visit!
Next stop: Museé Picasso Paris at Hôtel Salé. The hotel’s courtyard in the Marais district of Paris was built between 1656 and 1660 by the architect Jean Boullier de Bourges. It was a private residence until the city of Paris bought it in 1964, and now it’s completely dedicated to the work of Pablo Picasso.
Tip: Buy tickets in advance and go later in the day–there was no line when we went! After passing by these gorgeous sculpted guards we spent the afternoon admiring some of the finest work by the father of Cubism.
This is the view from the top floor of the Museum. The clouds opened up for a moment and revealed a spectacular glimpse of the Sacré-Coeur.
We ended our day by shopping in the rain in Marais. It’s one of my favorite spots in Paris because you never know what you might find with every turn of this quaint side street. Daphné Dasque is my favorite jewelry boutique in the city–I’m already obsessed with
